What the job involves
We start by shutting off the supply at the stop valves under the sink, then disconnect the old faucet and lift it out. The sink deck is cleaned of old putty and mineral buildup, the new faucet is seated and secured from below, and the water lines are connected.
Then we flush the lines, check the aerator, and run hot and cold to look for drips at every connection.
We can also replace a bathroom sink drain assembly or a pop-up stopper while the faucet is out, since they are easy to reach then. The same goes for a kitchen sprayer hose or soap dispenser that has started to leak.
What we check first
Before we remove anything, we make sure the shutoff valves actually shut. Old stop valves under sinks sometimes seize or leak when turned, and if so we replace them as part of the job. We also check the number of holes in the sink or countertop, since the new faucet has to match them or use a cover plate.
We look at the supply lines for cracks or corrosion and replace them with new braided lines when needed.
Some faucets are mounted through a granite or quartz countertop, and those need careful handling so the stone is not chipped. We check the thickness of the surface and the nut clearance underneath before we start.
- Sink hole count and spacing
- Condition of the shutoff valves
- Supply line age and material
- Room beneath the sink to work
Why it matters in Arizona
Our water is hard, and it is the main reason faucets fail here. Calcium collects in the aerator and cartridge, slowing flow and making handles stiff. A new faucet with a ceramic cartridge tends to handle it better, and a quick vinegar soak of the aerator helps between replacements.
Hot summer days also mean the water in the pipes and in the cold line can get warm. That is normal and not a faucet fault.
How a visit goes
You choose the faucet or we help you find one that fits your sink. We lay protection down, turn off the water, swap the fixture, reconnect the lines, and test for leaks and pressure. We wipe everything down and show you how the handle, sprayer or pull-down head works.
Most faucet jobs are done in a short visit.
We hand over the old faucet if you want it, or we take it with us. We also tell you which valve controls which sink, so if there is ever a leak, you know where to shut the water off.
What affects the cost, and when to call a specialist
The type of faucet matters. A single-handle bathroom faucet is simple, while a pull-down kitchen faucet with a sprayer, soap dispenser or filter line has more parts. Seized valves, corroded lines and tight cabinets add time.
We quote the work before we start.
If the supply pipes inside the wall are leaking, a main shutoff won't close, or the faucet change requires moving the plumbing, we will recommend a specialist for that portion.
“Nathan from Charme & Sons did our son's bathroom conversion from tub to walk in shower and we are very pleased with how everything turned out, see attached before and after pictures. Nathan was competent, reliable and reasonable. Will definitely use him again...”
